Weekend getaway

We decided to take advantage of the last free weekend we have before January and head to the cities to visit some family and friends! We drove up Friday afternoon and went to Seth's brother's restaurant for dinner. Josh is bartender extraordinaire at an upscale seafood restaurant in Wayzata called Blue Point. We no more than walked in the door and 3 staff members and a few bar patrons came over to meet Josiah saying to each other "This is Josh's nephew!" I guess Uncle Josh talks about him from time to time?? Josiah was an angel, he looked around and "talked" to everyone..he was especially excited to see the candle flickering on the table and the ceiling fan above...very cool. Unfortunately we forgot the camera in the car so we have no photos of our fabulous time there:-( Thanks to Josh for being the consummate host and hooking us up with great food and wine! My cousin Josh and his wife Tressa met us for dinner also. After our DEE-licious meal we headed to Josh and Tressa's to set up camp for the weekend. They were gracious enough to allow us to crash their quiet house for the weekend and even gave us TWO rooms to spread out in at Chez Wiltsie, quite a treat!! Thanks guys:-) On Saturday we headed to Bloomington for lunch at James, Chrissy and Charlie's house. Seth and James were roommates at SCU and he and his wife Chrissy welcomed their son Charlie 2 weeks before Josiah was born so we thought it would be fun to get the boys together for a little play date. They were hilarious with each other, they were mostly curious as to how the other one's mouth and nose worked:
"I'm getting your nose Charlie"
"Oh yeah, now I'm getting yours Josiah!"
"HEY CHARLIE, LOOK AT THE CAMERA"
"Geez man, you don't have to yell so loud!"
"How's this Mom, we're both looking now!"
After lunch we went north to St. Paul to stop in at my uncle Scott and aunt Teresa's house to check up on the progress of their kitchen remodel. We found the remodel complete and it looks beautiful!! My cousins Nick and Ellie were there as well and played with Josiah for a bit before Scott and Nick took Josiah on a walk! We also used the time there to sample some of Scott's homemade brew...cherry ale=yummy! Next up on the weekend agenda was dinner out with my brother and sister-in-law, Marc and Jen at Skinner's Pub in St. Paul. Josh, Tress, Scott and Nick were also able to join us and we had a blast. Jen and Marc followed us to Chez Wiltsie for an evening of pool and a rousing round of Mad Gab, fun had by all:-)

This is a mural that was on the restaurant's wall...someone named Mad Dog Roshon? I don't know who he is but I'm posting the picture for uncle Marc, cousin Josh and great uncle Scott because they all thought it was hilarious:-) Pool table instead of a dining room table = Best. Idea. Ever.

Sunday found us packing up and driving east to Cottage Grove to stop in and say HI to my cousin Ben, his wife Brie and their adorable 2 year old, Cambelle. We got a tour of their new house with special emphasis on the best room of the house, Cambelle's "purple room". No matter where we were in the house, she just kept saying "purple room" as if to say "Why would you want to see anything else, my bedroom is clearly the best!" From there we headed south back to Rochester and after dinner at Great Grandma Pat's and Great Grandpa Dewey's, we were finally home. It was a GREAT weekend, we had so much fun with everyone!! Special thanks again to Josh and Tressa for opening their home to us and not complaining about being woken up by a 4 month old in the middle of the night:-) Thanks you two, we loved staying with you!!!
