Hopping on the bandwagon

In the tradition of Jan's Fashion Fabulous Friday blog entries, I bring you this gem of an outfit that Josiah was sporting the other night, think he can be an honorary Ingy now Jan?

Future in medicine?

Josiah has become quite interested in 'owies' over the past few weeks.  Any mark on his body now requires a bandaid.  For example, I had to reapply not one, not two, but THREE bandaids to a 10 day old "wound" just this morning.  Luckily, I found multicolored bandaids at the Dollar Tree so this new habit isn't costing us $10 for 3 Lightning McQueen bandaids as was previously the case.  Anywho, his concern has now spread beyond his own "health" and on to anyone else who might have a mark on them.  He frequently gets a concerned look on his face, points to a freckle on my arm and asks "You get hurt Mommy?"  And when I try to assure him that no, I am in fact just fine, he shakes his head and states "No Mommy, you hurt"  OK buddy, sure, I'll apply a brightly colored 'noragne' bandaid to my freckle.  Awesome.  The other day when Henry was over for a play date, Josiah noticed that he had a 'wound' on his knee and was very concerned...no need to call CPS, the scrape was at least a week old and almost healed but Josiah thought differently:

UPDATE #2 on: "I make duuurt"

So as my faithful blog followers (all 3 of you:-)) will remember, Josiah helped me plant three seeds in little pots in April and we transplanted those to a bigger pot in May.  Even though they had grown exponentially from the tiny seeds they started out as I wasn't sure how they'd fare when we transplanted them (yet again) to our big garden but wouldn't you know it?  I was surprised again!!  Here are some pictures of the results...not bad for the daughter of a proclaimed "black thumb gardener" eh??

Our "tiny" tomato plant...there is a tomato cage in there
somewhere but it was overtaken long ago!

Josiah's sunflower:-)

The whole garden...the pepper plant is in there
somewhere, you'll have to trust me on that one:-)

Josiah's first s'more

I know, I know, you're thinking "Summer is almost over and you are just NOW letting him enjoy that gooey yummy deliciousness??"  It isn't because I was worried about the mess (honest) it's because this little sleeper is always in bed before the campfires get to the s'more roasting stage.  But last night, we were at Gramma and Papa's and started in time to let him enjoy the spoils:-)

"Oooo, crackers!"

"Um, Mommy, why are they putting that gooey stuff on my cracker?"

First bite....

...excellent gooeyness factor....

...and it's a hit!

"Mooooore mommy??"

More from the Honkers

As I mentioned in my previous post, our family has taken quite a liking to the Honkers and once again, we were in attendance for their last home game (in the luxury box this time...again, thanks Dad!!!!).  In addition to some of the family, I was able to invite a few girlfriends to join us also and we had a blast!

HennyBug got a new hat...thanks Papa!

Miles was chillin'...we were ahead by 9 runs
so he was confident in the win:-)

Don't know what's going on here but if I know Jamie, she's
scheduling something with Blair:-)

Like I've said before, no game is complete without the YMCA!

More YMCA fun!

After the Honkers game, we continued ladies night with a trip to Dooley's.  The hostess must have known we were there to chat and put us WAY back in a corner (conveniently next to the complimentary popcorn) and we chatted the evening away.  A few years ago I would have been relaying a story of waking up with a headache or possibly even the spins following a night of such fun but not now that I'm 34....I woke up in the middle of the night with heartburn.  Thanks God, I know I'm getting old but did you have to remind me at 3:00AM?  Awesome.

Happy (early and SURPRISE) Birthday to my mom!

My mom's birthday is September 12 so imagine her surprise when we celebrated last Friday night at the Honkers game:-)  A little background:  The Honkers are a summer collegiate baseball team based in Rochester that our family has taken quite an interest in over the years.  We faithfully attend at least a few games every season and usually do so in the comfort of a luxury box or the esteemed patio compliments of my dad (thanks dad!!!!)  No long beer lines or waiting for food for us, it's delivered to the box/patio prior to game start and available on demand.  Good living.  This year's day to be on the patio was August 5th and Dad decided to use the opportunity to surprise my mom with family and friends waiting for her when she arrived.  Like I said, her actual birthday isn't until September 12th so she was caught completely off guard as most of us would be 5 weeks before our actual birthday:-)  It was a beautiful night and we had so much fun celebrating my amazing mom and enjoying yummy food, drink and of course, the game...
I think we surprised her:-)

Friedt Family Vacation 2011

Well, I started with over 350 pictures but was able to whittle them down to a manageable amount...still too many to just post the pics though so here is the slideshow instead:-)  As you'll see, we had a really fun time and amazing weather!  A BIG THANK YOU to Jay and Renee for letting us crash at their "cabin" (read: beautiful lake home) for the week, we appreciate it so much!!!  Josiah is still talking about going on "bay-cation" at the "caven" and wants to know when we can go back:-)

'Cheeeeese, I awake Mommy'

That's what I heard at 8:45 last night when snapping this picture.  I put Josiah down at his usual time of 7:30 and went about my business of packing lunches, laundry, etc.  When I went in at 8:40 to turn off his music and check him one last time for the night I saw two little eyes looking at me and a little voice saying "Mommy, I awake"  I couldn't resist seizing a "you're gonna miss this" moment and brought him in to lay with me and watch the Twins for a bit.  Sure, I probably should have encouraged him to just go to sleep but who could resist snuggling with this??
