Nana has surgery
My mom had partial knee replacement surgery on Thursday and Josiah and I spent most of the day at the hospital with my dad. He was such a good baby, he just napped in his stroller, woke to eat and talk to all of us for awhile and then went back to sleep. My mom did really well, the surgery went as well if not better than they expected and they were very pleased with the outcome. She was awake pretty fast and talking so that was a relief! She has already been up in the chair quite a bit and is even walking here and there! The plan is for her to go home tomorrow. We were back up to visit Nana this morning and this time we brought Auntie Robin and cousin Miles along too. Here is a picture of Nana and her boys...she shouldn't technically be holding either one of them but any of you who know my mom know that if there is a baby around, she'll find a way to hold it:-) Case in point:

Hey...what are those shiny pokey things??
Josiah had his 2 month well child doctor visit today. Well, calling it a "visit" seems too pleasant based on the fact that I went in with a happy, smiling, babbling baby and came out with a red faced, very sad little guy!! But I'm getting ahead of myself, we'll start with the more pleasant parts of the visit. Starting out this morning at home, I had calmly explained to him that he would be getting some shots today and that it would hurt but that it would be quick and that he'd get Tylenol to help with the pain. No, I'm not crazy, I realize he didn't understand a word I was saying but it made me feel better to think I had done my best to forewarn him:-) Then it was off to the Dr. The first half of the appointment was actually for me...Josiah and I have the same doctor so that works out nicely:-) My part was just a follow-up from all the tests and things that I was having when I was sick. He feels that even though the test came back negative that I probably did have viral meningitis but they ran the test too late to detect it. At any rate, it's gone now and hopefully will never return! Now on to Josiah...he weighs exactly 12 pounds and is in the 58% for weight. He is 41 cm long and in the 73% for height. Dr. Garrison says he is growing perfectly and is a healthy little boy! So, you'd think the visit would end on that happy note, no?? Uh, no. As all of you parents out there know, now comes the torture part! Let me set the scene for those who haven't experienced it first hand yet...there was little Josiah, laying on the table with his diaper on having just been examined by the doctor. He's happy and smiling at the doctor and nurse and me and even talking a little, telling us all about the fabulous plans he has for a nap later in the day. The doctor and nurse both leave and the nurse comes back with not one, not two, not three but FOUR vaccinations!! Thankfully, one is an oral vaccine so no needle there. That one was first and Josiah thought that even though it wasn't the best thing he'd tasted, it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately for him, it had only just begun...next came the three needles. He was just laying there, smiling at me and WHAM-O, she hits him with the first shot and out comes his lip, his little face turns beet red and he screams! And then to add insult to injury, she does it two more times!! I felt SO bad for the little guy, even though we had discussed it this morning, clearly he had blocked it out and was completely unprepared! Needless to say, I scooped him up after the 3rd shot and calmed him down and after a few minutes of sniffles, he closed his little eyes and went to sleep. I think he operates under the common baby belief: If I can't see you, you can't see me:-) So, it's over and we both survived...and to be honest, I think it was harder on me than it was on him! Currently he is sitting in his bouncy seat, smiling at his elephants and cooing at them...I think I just caught the word Ouch so I'm guessing he's telling them about his "visit" with the Dr...hopefully he'll leave out the part where I was there but did nothing to stop the evil nurse from torturing him!!

Blogging from Central WI
This will be a short post, it is mainly for the benefit of a few people who are missing Josiah this week because we are on vacation. Every year, we go away for a week with my side of the family, this year and last we have been lucky enough to get to stay at Seth’s aunt and uncle’s cabin near Ladysmith WI. Jay and Renee have generously allowed us to move in to their beautiful lake home and use their pontoon and lake view for the week and we are all greatly appreciative! So far we are having a blast, here are a few pictures, more to follow! PS- for those of you who knew I was sick, quick update, all the tests came back negative so they decided it was a virus and would just have to run it’s course. Well, as of today, it appears to have puttered out because I’ve gone all day with no Tylenol and haven’t gotten a headache or a fever spike! Lord willing, the whole ordeal is finally over!!

Wardrobe Change
We are blessed to have so many people who love Josiah and generously helped him to build a VERY extensive wardrobe! We usually have at LEAST one wardrobe change per day...ok, so some times it's due to a spit up or poop-related incident but other days it's just to be sure that he gets at least 2 or 3 wears out of each outfit! Here are a few of the outfits he's been sporting lately:
Grandma Cindy bought me this outfit, isn't seersucker the best?!
So, this isn't officially an outfit but I'm smiling so Mommy wanted to post it anyway (Great-Auntie Sara made me this bib, her last name is Lovett)
Friends
Josiah wanted me to post these pictures of him with a few of the fun visitors and friends that he's met so far:-)
Josiah's first play group...some of our friends from Berean (our church) invited us to join their small group for dinner one night, the babies are all under a year old and we are looking forward to watching them grow together:-)
You can't see him in this picture but we are all staring at Josiah...too bad NOBODY loves this little baby:-)
