Christmas 2009

WARNING: This will be a long post, mostly pictures though so hopefully that will help! We had a fabulous holiday this year and were blessed to be able to spend quality time with both of our extended families as well as have a little time for the 3 of us to celebrate our first Christmas as a family. The celebration started Christmas Eve morning at my parent’s house. We had a yummy brunch and spent the day chatting and playing games. There were an abundance of gifts for the little ones to open! After church in the afternoon, the rest of the Greseth clan joined in the celebration and we more good food and fun including a new game aptly called “The Paper Bag Game”, picture collage below! Here are a few pictures from the day:
New car seat from Nana and Papa, just like the one Miles got last year:-)
Trying out Miles' new tent with Papa! "Um, why do we have these goofy things on our heads??"
Hi Auntie Jen!
The Paper Bag Game
Christmas morning found us cozy at home with the second big winter storm of the year swirling outside. We got up and went to see what Santa had brought and found that he once again had filled our stockings with treats and goodies. Josiah even got some baby food to try! Although he had a few other presents to open from us as well, he was mostly interested in the bows; they were the greatest toy to be found that morning! Pictorial evidence:
We were supposed to head out to drive to Breezy Point later in the day Christmas Day but the weather kept us home an extra day. We used the time to swing into our local ER to have Josiah’s ears checked. He had been pulling on them and not eating as well so we figured we might as well use our time wisely and take him in. Thankfully, we were the ONLY ones there and were in and out in 19 minutes…a new record I’m sure! The doctor proclaimed Josiah’s ears “perfect” and Seth and I won the award for “Paranoid Parents of the Year” but at least we could head north the next day secure in the knowledge that we did not have a sick baby! We spent the rest of the day packing and then headed back to my parent’s house that evening to celebrate with Grandma Sissy and cousin Jerry. Even though we were sad that we didn’t get to see Seth’s family as planned, we were glad to have that time with Grandma and Jerry to celebrate! We headed north Saturday morning and Josiah was the model traveler! He slept the first hour or so, woke up and “chatted” with us for the next 45 minutes before he decided he needed a little reprieve from the car seat. We stopped in Albertville to eat; here are a few shots of Josiah and Daddy having fun at the restaurant:
Then it was back in the car to complete the next 3 hours of the trip. Once again, Josiah slept and when he woke up just cooed and played like an angel! He did start complaining about 15 minutes away from Breezy but really, who can blame him…Seth and I were getting cases of butt-itis by then too and were anxious to just get there already! We had a wonderful time relaxing with Seth’s family and Josiah was able to spend quality time with them all, here are a few of the pictures we got:
"Talking" to Grammy Cindy
Thank you for the grub Grandpa!
Ashley will hate me for posting this but I just love this picture (I forgot to flip it before uploading...oops!)
"I'll get your nose Uncle Josh!"
Sending the troops out to go snow tubing!
Josiah was once again spoiled with a pile of new toys and clothes. And once again, his favorite gift?? Yep, the bow! Here are a few pictures of the gift opening:
Grammy Cindy got cousin Addison and Josiah matching PJs and new chairs to use by the campfire next year so we thought we’d snap a picture of them together in their new duds sitting in the new chairs. Simple right? Not so much…here are the fruits of our efforts:-)
As you can see, we had a wonderful holiday and are so blessed to be surrounded by loving and generous families!! We hope you had a very Merry Christmas also!!!
