Everything you wanted to know about labor and delivery...and then some!
Seth and I attended the Prenatal class offered at the hospital this weekend. We opted for the all -in-one weekend session in lieu of the 6 week/one night a week version. Our instructor Pam was hilarious and right away warned us that we would be sick of hearing her talk by the time the class (or Baby Bootcamp as she called it) was over:-) In truth, we both really enjoyed listening to her and learned a LOT! She informed us that she's been helping deliver babies "since Jesus was born" and while we know that MIGHT be a small stretch of the truth, she certainly seems to know her stuff and was a wealth of knowledge! I won't bore you all with the details of the class since many of you have already attended such a class and/or given birth and probably know most of the info already. But both Seth and I agree that it was well worth our time to go and are feeling much more prepared for the "big day" now! In fact, while touring the birthing unit, I almost hopped in the bed and said "Start the pitocin, let's get this show on the road!" But I thought better of it and decided to just follow along through the rest of the tour like a good student:-) We finished the class and even got a "diploma"....ok, so we have to fill in our own names but still, it's something!
In other news, I had a doctors appointment last week and all is well with Baby F! He/she is head down and Dr. says unlikely to turn at this point (yay!). Also, I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and it was so cool:-) However, because the little bean was doing his/her afternoon exercises and wouldn't hold still to get a good read of the heartbeat, my Dr. did another ultrasound just to be sure. Everything is just fine, heartbeat is strong and regular at 130 BPM. We also got a pretty good shot of the bean's little face...poor thing looks so squished already, I can't imagine what it will be like in a few weeks! WARNING: Mommy brag time...Baby F was "practicing breathing" while the Dr. was doing the ultrasound and he reports that means that neurologically the baby is developing very well! I didn't have a clue that they did that but I'm glad to hear that our Baby seems to know all about it:-) All in all, the visit went great, Baby F is great and we're cooking right along!

so excited for you both!
oh...the squishing has just begun ;)
miles can't wait for his cousin to be born...he's learned lots of tricks to teach the little bean! lesson one = squealing
I remember those classes. Did they show the movies where all the women giving birth were topless? I actually raised my hand and asked if topless-ness was required. And after all those classes I was so nervous that I was thrilled when they told me I'd be having a C-section!
LOL...Jan you crack me up!!! Yes, they showed the topless wonders....and I was wondering the same thing but apparently you only have to be topless when giving birth for a Birthing Class video:-) As for me, I plan to be fully clothed from the waist up...I prefer to keep the girls reigned in at all times!!
such good news! so happy and excited for you two!
love,
uncle marc and auntie jen
